Together In a Crisis is designed to support people who identify as being in crisis, but who do not meet the threshold for the local NHS mental health crisis service.
We work in Newcastle, Sunderland, North Tyneside, and South Tyneside, in close collaboration with the NHS crisis service, to provide practical and emotional support through the specific issues or problems that are causing distress. We offer:
A listening ear
Short-term support, tailored to the issues the individual is facing
Support to make informed decisions
Links to other support and services
Initial support will be over the telephone, potentially to be followed up face-to-face, depending on the individual’s needs.
If we link an individual in to other services, we can support them to attend initial appointments, helping them to gain the confidence to access activities and services. We will always try to meet our service users in a space that is convenient to them, in their local community.
How to contact Together in a Crisis
You can call our Sunderland/South Tyneside service on 0300 131 0333.
Our Newcastle/North Tyneside service can only take referrals directly from the NHS Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment (CRHT) Team or the psychiatric liaison at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. If you are concerned about yourself or someone else, please contact the NHS (CRHT) Team on 0191 814 8899.
